Parent orientations
Parent orientation meetings are a great way to find out more about our awesome programs. Our next orientation will be on Saturday, January 21st at 10.30am. If you would like to attend, please schedule by calling 425 495-4968, or drop us a line (redmondridge@ikumon.com). Please also call if this time does not work for your family and we can try to accommodate you! We look forward to meeting you!
If your child is enrolled in the Junior KUMON reading program, we do have flashcards available in CD format, in addion to the traditional format. If you have not received a CD, please speak to Kavitha when you're next in the Center.
Home grading
Home grading is a great way to help your children progress through the KUMON Program as quickly as possible. Having assignments graded at home allows students to make their corrections nightly. Children can then learn from their mistakes as they progress. This means that they make fewer mistakes, which means less repetition, which leads to faster progress. This is important for the math program but even more so for the reading. For example, spelling errors must be fixed in order for children to spell these words correctly in the future. We do require all reading assignments that are not corrected at home to be completely corrected in class, so the children can learn as much as possible from each set.
Home grading is also a great way to become involved in your child’s KUMON studies. You will have a much better idea when your child is finding things easy or hard, and be able to provide encouragement accordingly. Please remind your children that making and correcting mistakes is a normal part of the learning process. If we didn’t allow ourselves to make mistakes, we would miss so many learning opportunities!
We hope you will check back frequently to see what's new at KUMON of Redmond Ridge.
